Most people either throw frying oil away or keep reusing it with burnt crumbs in it — which is what makes it taste bitter and smoke early. Straining it out means the same oil goes further and still tastes clean.

Heat-Insulated Handle

High-temperature resistant, so you can pour hot oil straight from the pan without wrapping a cloth round your hand.

Lid and Drip Tray

The lid keeps dust out; the tray underneath catches the drips that otherwise leave a sticky ring on the counter.

Good to Know

Let oil cool before pouring. Straight out of the fryer it is around 180C — pour it slowly, away from yourself, and never fill past the rim.

Oil does not last forever even when strained. If it smells off, smokes early or has gone dark and thick, throw it away.

Do not pour used oil down a sink.
